The principle behind the redesign focuses on bringing digital interfaces to be perfectly in sync with the reality. The redesign brings together a mix of refreshing colors, tweaks in iconography, typography and playful transitions between screens.

There’s a lot more focus on elements, transitions and animations to behave in the manner of how it would in the physical world from paper flips to ink drops. “Our material is grounded in tactile reality, inspired by our study of paper and ink, yet open to imagination and magic” – Duarte.
From designers perspective, we can really see this adding to the current minimalist aesthetic principle of Flat UI Design and Microsoft’s not so popular Metro UI design.
