This beautiful Victorian building on Sewdley Street in Hackney, London E5 was restored by Giles Pike. A combination of exposed concrete, brickwork, steelwork and reclaimed oak ensured an industrial aesthetic in line with the buildings origins. Much of the original building fabric has been retained and timber upcycled to provide stair treads and floor finishes.
The end result is a high quality contemporary, tactile home with a strong sense of the past.
