The winners of the Open and Youth categories of the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards has been announced. Selected from over 70,000 photo entries worldwide, here we showcase 10 best amateur photographers who claimed the top prizes. An overall winner is yet to be announced.

The winners were selected from more than 70,000 entries from around the world. Poor God, submitted by Arup Ghosh from India, won the people category.

Gert van den Bosch from the Netherlands was the winner in the nature and wildlife category, with this image of a pony in the snow.

“My photo Rain in Ancient Town was shot in southern China and shows the scene of people travelling during the rainy season,” said Chen Li, winner of the travel category.

Rodeo, taken by Valerie Prudon from France, triumphed in the arts and culture section. The photo was taken in Branxton, Australia, in October 2013.
